What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

We are a non-denominational Christian congregation. But, we understand our beliefs to be in harmony with fundamentally orthodox convictions that have guided followers of Jesus for two millennia.

God

We believe in the one triune God co-existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ is God in flesh, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, was true God and true man, existing in one person and without sin. We believe he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, died, was buried and was raised from the dead on the third day.  We believe in His ascension to heaven, and in His present life there for us as Lord of all, High Priest, and Advocate.

We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts people of sin, regenerates them, indwells them, guides them into all truth, and gives gifts to them as He desires. We believe that the Holy Spirit continues to supply God’s people with the full diversity of Spiritual gifts, ministries and workings illustrated in Scripture for their edification and for the fulfillment of the worldwide mission of the gospel.

The Bible

We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God and inerrant in the original autographs, so that they are fully trustworthy and of supreme and final authority in all they say.

Mankind

Humans, both male and female, were created in God's image for His glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and appointed as representatives of God and stewards of the rest of creation.

The Fall

When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God. This caused them to fall out of fellowship with God, and fractured all of creation since that time. People, in their natural state, are sinners, lost, without hope in the world, and without God.

Salvation

We believe the only way to be saved is through the cross and blood of Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and was raised for our justification.

We believe that the terms of salvation are repentance toward God and a personal, heartfelt faith in and confession of, the Lord Jesus Christ, which results in the Spiritual regeneration of the person. This salvation is entirely by the grace of our Lord and not of works.

The Church

The church is a Spiritual family living under the Kingship of Jesus Christ and engaged in his mission in the world.

We believe that Jesus calls his followers to be immersed in water as a public expression of their repentance from sin and loyalty to Christ. We believe in eating the Lord’s Supper as a sacred meal that rehearses Jesus’ death and resurrection as we anticipate his second coming.

We believe that followers of Jesus must live consecrated lives, embracing standards of conduct that exalt our Lord, build His Church, and demonstrate His purity and power to the world.

Our Future Hope

We believe in the visible, bodily return of Christ Jesus to the earth, to gather His people, and to judge the world. We believe that the Scriptures promise eternal punishment for the lost and eternal life for the saved.
