Waiting with Power

by Jim Simantirakis

When we view the timeline and plan(s) of God they include a dynamic perspective on the Kingdom. While Jesus has fulfilled the role of the Messiah by defeating death on the cross and resurrecting, we still are not at the “complete” end of the story. There’s more…He’s coming back church! (Don’t know when, but He is…..Matt 25). Let us hold near to the hope and assurance we can have in God’s Word.

Revelation 22:12-13 reminds us: “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.  I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End."

Now while we have the trust of God’s Word, we are still currently in a place of waiting...waiting for Jesus, waiting for breakthrough, waiting for opportunity, waiting for change, waiting for the pieces to align. Sometimes as believers, we can mistake waiting for inactivity or idleness. Let me encourage you church, there is an “active” way to wait on God!  Being focused, ready, in season and out of season, with expectancy; the Kingdom of God is not fully here yet, but we can certainly draw from it and contribute to it while we are here! God is ready to use us; let’s be ready to be used by Him.  It might not be how we think, or even how we want, but as someone told me once, sometimes faith is spelled R-I-S-K.

Sometimes as believers, we can also make the mistake that waiting is a lonely process. Be confident that we are not alone, even though we might feel isolated. The Holy Spirit has no limits, and is not bound. The word of the Lord stands forever (1 Peter 1:25). Know that the pressing in and labor for the Lord and His Kingdom is not in vain.

My prayer is that while we come to a close on this time of prayer and fasting, that you’ve been able to bring a reality and truth to the Lord’s everlasting words in your life and those surrounding you.

For God’s Glory!
