Bold and Courageous – A Fasting Devotional

From: Anthony Gomez

How can we practice confidence and boldness
in the authority that has been given to us?

Matthew 28:18-20
Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Matthew 10:8
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!

The Scriptures reveal how Jesus empowered His disciples to do many wonders.  This was not a task just for the disciples, it’s for all of us. He said, “Teach these new disciples to obey ALL THE COMMANDS I HAVE GIVEN YOU”.  This includes laying hands on the sick so they may be healed and casting out demons to bring freedom, that they can see the goodness of God and experience the love of God in that way.

John 14:12
“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.

God has given each of us authority. Take a minute to soak that in because I know it can be shocking to some of us. The ability to heal and cast out is not a gift or talent only meant to be done by some and not others. If you are a believer in Christ, this means you too, have the ability and the authority over the devil and all his schemes.   This requires Courage, Confidence and Boldness.

I can tell you from experience, that it may take a while. I can also tell you that it’s nothing to be afraid of. I was afraid for a long time. Maybe that’s you today. Maybe that’s been you for years. You don’t doubt God but you can be intimidated to step into something that is unknown, like casting out demons.  Maybe you don’t want to make yourself or God look bad if you pray for the sick and they are not healed in the moment. There can be so many discouraging thoughts, doubts and fears keeping us from doing what God has called us to do.

2 Timothy 1:7
GOD has not GIVEN us a spirit of FEAR and TIMIDITY, but of POWER, LOVE, and self-discipline.

Don’t be afraid to practice this authority. Be confident that God will use you. Be confident that the sickness, demon, disease, bondage and addiction will submit to the name of Jesus by the Holy Spirit inside of you. Be bold in asking people if you can pray for them. Sometimes they may say no but most people desire to be prayed for and are just too proud or scared or timid to ask for it. So be bold and courageous in your asking if they need prayer. Be confident, bold and courageous as you pray. Know that God is with you and no evil shall harm you. You are a child of God. A royal priesthood. A chosen people. You are who God says you are. You can do what God says you can do.

SO YOU CAN DO THIS!!!
NOW GO AND DO IT!!
IN JESUS NAME!!
